The Prayer Of My Heart.

As I sit here this fine sunny morning, I am listening to the gentle whirl of the fan and the thump of the washing machine. Prayer time has already been completed for the morning; the rush of the day has yet to begin. While I wait for the machine to finish, my mind drifts back to the Bible Study of last evening. The passage was 1 Samuel 15; the character was Saul. The offense was being disobedient by not killing all the Amalekites; the consequence was being rejected by God since Saul first rejected Him. The application is so simple that the little 5-year-old missionary son figured it out: Saul disobeyed and was done being used by God. As I turn and examine my own life, I think about that word: done. It holds such finality; such doom. I don't want to hear the words "I have rejected thee" like Saul did. The prayer of my heart today is that I am obedient in all things... and that I do not ever hear those fateful words.
